I just installed 18 paintings in the great space at Upper Crust Pie and Bakery (facing Honeycutt Road just off of Falls of the Neuse in north Raleigh), 8 of which were completed in the last week. Upper Crust is a great showplace for large paintings, with high ceilings, an unobtrusive gallery hanging system, reasonable lighting, and some tasty vittles. I picked up a couple of pies while I was there and I feel like Deputy Dog on the old Quickdraw McGraw cartoons when someone would give him a milkbone–just hugging myself with delicious tastes. You don’t get a tiara when you walk in, but Meghan Gregory and the crew treat you like royalty. Colorful paintings, tasty pastries, a beverage of you choice, and good friends make an enjoyable visit.
